In Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, southwestern China, the ancient Taoist medicinal inheritance is practised in a small clinic, which is named Green Lotus Traditional Chinese Medicinal Clinic (青莲中医) since the first day it was established. For many patients, this clinic is only not a place where cure their illness, but also the school which changes and fosters their essential values.
On May 20th, 2014, a 4-year old girl, who had been suffering from an undefined intermittent low fever and abdomen pain for a couple of months, accompanied by her grandpa to the clinic. Doctor Liu enquired all information about her diet, sleeping, urine and stools, stamina, sweating, temper, etc., then diagnosed her pulse and tongue, finally prescribed two kinds of herbs for 3-day decoction. And three days later, the little girl fully recovered.
This is only one of many successful cases. Doctor Liu and his team are busy with patients suffering from different kinds of disease and illness, such as getting cold, cough and fever, infertility, refractory constipation, tumours, cancers etc. As TCM views bodies holistically, there is no necessaries to set up different departments in clinic as western hospitals do. A rich-experienced doctor is like a whole hospital. In order to ensure good treatment are offered to patients, Doctor Liu only receives 30 appointments a day, and a high percentage of patients get satisfied results and recommend the clinic to their families and friends.
Unexpectedly , Doctor Liu himself and his doctor team members are young guys, ageing from 25-40 years old, instead of old faces with white moustache as most people think about the TCM doctors. Though the doctor team members are young, they are lucky and favoured because they have succeeded and practised a remote and secret inheritance that comes from Taoism, with the oldest dating back to more than 5000 BC. I believe that these four monumental works are only known by a few acupuncture practitioners and herbalists in western society. In fact, most Chinese readers have found that the content of the works are very obscure and hard to understand, due to complex historical and cultural reasons over hundreds of years. As a result, the physiology, pathology, etiology, acology and herbalism, which are completely encompassed and explained in these works were no longer able to be interpreted by many TCM doctors—thus TCM, generally speaking, has been experiencing a decline during recent hundreds of years, began to rejuvenate and draw the world’s attention again during recent decades, though.
As the successors and practitioners of this precious inheritance, though not ultimate master at these monumental works, we are prepared and feel honoured to share the great insights and enlightenment in the works, and to reveal the answers that even numerous TCM doctors have been puzzled for hundreds years in this site, with the grace of our great ancient Chinese originators.
